About This Tool
My Story
Hi! I'm Merill, and I'm passionate about building tools that make developers' lives easier. As an MCP (Model Context Protocol) Server creator, I built one of the first Microsoft 365 MCP Servers (Lokka).
When I wanted to add professional VS Code install buttons to my MCP projects' web pages and GitHub README files, I couldn't find a simple online tool that made it easy to create and test these badges. So, I did what any developer would do - I built one myself!
What This Tool Does
This VS Code MCP Install Button Generator helps you create beautiful, professional install buttons for your Model Context Protocol servers. Whether you're building MCP extensions, integrations, or tools, this generator makes it simple to:
- Configure your MCP server settings (stdio or HTTP/SSE)
- Customize badge appearance with colors and styles
- Generate real-time previews
- Export as Markdown or HTML code
- Copy ready-to-use code to your clipboard
Technical Details
This tool generates install links based on Microsoft's official guidance for Model Context Protocol integration with VS Code. For more information about MCP servers, see the VS Code documentation on MCP servers. The badges are powered by Shields.io for consistent, professional appearance.
The tool is completely free, open-source, and runs entirely in your browser - no data is sent to any servers.
Get Started
Simply configure your MCP server details in the Configuration tab, customize your button in the Badge Customization tab, and copy the generated code to use in your projects!
